I can raise Rs1 trillion for reconstruction: Bhattarai

Aug 16, 2016- Coordinator of Naya Shakti Nepal (NSN), BaburamBhattarai has remarked that the government should give a lump sum of Rs 500,000 to earthquake survivors. Speaking at an interaction on Gorkha reconstruction organised by social organisation department of Naya Shakti party in Gorkha district, leader Bhattarai said the government failed to provide relief to the earthquake victims. "The government is going to backtrack from providing relief citing lack of enough funds," said Bhattarai, "I alone can raise Rs1 trillion for quake victims."
Leader Bhattarai said that positive talks are underway with international community to collect Rs 1 trillion. "If Rs 500,000 each is distributed to quake survivors, Rs 300 billion will be spent and the remaining Rs700 billion can be used for developmental activities and reconstruction," claimed Bharratai, saying that he will undertake the task if the government asks him to. Likewise, Bhattarai claimed that it was because of the instability and weakness of the government that the quake survivors are being denied the relief amount. He further expressed dissatisfaction over various conditions put forth by the government in disseminating Rs 200,000 relief amount. He lauded the formation of National Reconstruction Authority. But he expressed his reservations regarding the tasks accomplished by the reconstruction body. "I had put forward the notion of forming the NRA," said Bhattarai, "The Authority hasn't been able to work as expected."
