Aug 20, 2016- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi has conveyed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s ‘special message’ to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nidhi who is here on four-day official visit as special envoy to PM Dahal met Indian PM Modi on Saturday afternoon and handed over the letter sent by Dahal.Speaking briefly to Post after meeting with Modi, Nidhi said meeting has ‘very fruitful’ and cordial. He, however, did not give details of the agenda discussed with Indian PM.After the delegation-level meeting, Nidhi held one- on- one meeting with Modi for 15 minutes.
According to a member of delegation, Dahal in his message has stated that new government is ready to amend the constitution to address the demands of Madhesi people and Janajati, and make new constitution widely acceptable.The PM's message mentions that the new constitution will be soon amended to address the grievances of agitating Madhesi Morcha and make it all-acceptable. It also says the current government's primary objective is to hold the elections at earliest.Secondly, the message also reads that the government is looking forward to strengthen the bilateral ties between Nepal and India. The past misunderstandings have been completely eliminated, according to the letter.Likewise, PM Dahal's third message mentions giving topmost importance to holding a high-level political visit between the two countries. The fourth message seeks Indian government's assistance in materialising the development projects of Nepal.In response, PM Modi has assured of providing full support to the new government, according to a high level source present at the meeting.On Friday, Nidhi met Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.Nidhi will complete his four-day visit and return to Kathmandu today, it is learnt.
