The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued an order directing the government authorities to immediately halt the ongoing expansion of Dakshinkali-Chobhar road.
A single bench of Justice Deepak Raj Joshi directed the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and Department of Roads, among government bodies, to appear before the apex court with a written reply regarding the road project, assistant spokesman for SC Bishwo Raj Poudel said.
Thirty-four individuals including Pampha Devi Basnet had filed a writ at the SC claiming that the road expansion is being carried out illegally and their property were transgressed.
The apex court issued the order in the name of eight defendants.
