The government has named Lavadev Awasthi as the Chairman of Language Commission.
The cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to constitute the Commission under chairmanship of Awasthi, who is also a government secretary. The Commission is constituted in line with the constitution provision.
The term of the Chairman and members of the Commission would be six years.
Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Information and Communications, Surendra Kumar Karki, said Awasthi was appointed the Chairman of the Language Commission as recommended by Education Ministry in accordance with Article 287 of the constitution.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to send a delegation under the leadership of Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun to participate in the 17th Non-Aligned Movement Summit scheduled at Margarita Island of Venezuela in South America from September 17 to 18.
Before this, the NAM Summit was held in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. RSS
